My best tip for connecting with someone you don't know on LinkedIn:

The best way of building new connections is always seeking for an element of trust you can rely on. Adding new connections require a kind of a complex dimensional reflection.

For me it is most important to develop the right connections instead of just building connection and should always be in line with your social footprint and the relationship you intend to build. For this think long term into a partnership dimension were both sides aim for benefits.

My best tip: Visit those person, who reviewed your profile and send out a connection request. You already sharing some common ground. You'll find them in your Sales Nav. alerts. Those contacts are already curious about you and likely somehow engaged with your content. Await their reactions. Be friendly, reply to their questions and avoid any kind of pitching.

My second tip use Advanced search functions of Sales Nav.:

Just some tips aside to ease the process:

  • Reach out to shared connections you know in person. These are kind of spokepersons
  • Reach out for Alumnis where you share some education or professional work
  • Make use of networking groups in LinkedIn or
  • start building contacts based on events (in person or online) you attended actively
  • May other like to add here...

You can use InMails for opening a dialog before you send out a connection request.

But, please avoid cold call reaching out and starting a direct pitch for selling.

Cheers, Dirk
