At the end of each competition there will be a random draw that determines our winner! It’s worth joining each month to increase your chances to win a LinkedIn swag or Virtual Recognition*. Remember that the goal of these Monthly Competitions is to help members discover Community discussions, resources, and features that will improve your virtual selling strategy and activities.

📋 What are the rules around this Monthly Win Competition?

  • Participants must be in the Sales Solutions Community and over 18 years old.
  • The entry period runs from now, Aug 5, until Sep 2 11:59pm PST. For each entry to count, you must submit it within this timeframe.
  • After the entry period, the Community team will do a random draw with the names of qualified participants.
  • The winner will be announced on Sep 4.

Summer can be a tough time to stay productive, but I’ve found a few things that help me keep on track. I rely on apps like Notion and Tana to organize my thoughts and tasks using the PARA method. Evening walks—sometimes with a podcast, sometimes in silence—help me clear my mind.

I’ve also learned that taking brief pauses, even just five minutes, can reset my focus. And the more I enjoy the process, the better my sales results. It’s all about balance!

Read or listen to The Art of Impossible - Steven Kotler and get into the Flow State! will change the way you work, not just in summer.

Through Summer, (or indeed any other season), always be on.

While, traditionally, in many jurisdictions, Summer means vacations, family time, prospects and clients being unobtainable, it’s possible to balance one’s own Summer ‘me time’ with opportunities that can often materialise if we’re “always on” in terms of our business heads. Without ruining our own Summers, or loading up on more pressure and stress.

Whether we funciton in a corporate environment, or as an entrepreneur, an always-on mindset can see exciting new ideas and opportunities arise, often from the most unlikely of places. And these can always be pursued in earnest post Summer.

We all need some personal down time. Just don’t entirely switch off, unless of course it’s needed to avoid your own burnout!

Use your holiday or vacation to freshen up and come back with more focus.

Whilst other people are away and it’s quieter, use the time to prepare for when the summer comes to an end.

I sometimes create emails and save as drafts so they are ready to send out at an appropriate moment.

The summer break will also give you time to carry out different tasks such as find and connect with new contacts in LinkedIn/Sales Navigator.

Use your time wisely to get your housekeeping in order.

Do all the tasks you normally struggle with (due to lack of time), or the ones you least like doing.

Being able to give these tasks your full attention can actually be quite fun when you get stuck in, and will give you a sense of achievement once they are out of the way.

This will also give you a clear mind to hit the ground running when you return to the usual hectic role.

I remember I’m in sales, that sales are tougher in Summer, but my sales colleagues are all going on vacation. I put on my big-boy pants, pretend it’s Winter, and mop up!

I think that we should continue to do all the things good sales people do. The change in seasons simply modifies the amount and method by which it gets done.

Fill your funnel-  Prospect consistently, qualify leads and prioritize. Develop a pipeline

Network & build relationships - Go to industry events and follow up regularly.

Stay updated - Seek feedback and invest in development

Take advantage of technology - Use automation tools and social selling.

Hope you’re having a great summer!

Agreed, great tip, Paul!

(Also lol about not being affiliated haha) 😂

Give yourself goals with smaller goals and celebrate your success as you go. Summer can seem like a desert in sales but it’s a great time to get organized for the coming months.

Also, try something new! Take a trip (even if it’s a day trip), check out a new coffee shop or restaurant, spend time with friends - remember why you are working so hard!

Best of luck my LinkedIn Friends!

🌞😎 Summer is no different for me. My major down month, or should I say vacation month, is in September because of my birthday, so summer is just part of my compound-effect strategy to set myself up for downtime and celebration during my birthday week. In my opinion, your birthday is the most important holiday of every year. It’s your own new year and another opportunity to reflect on wins and losses and what to do different in this new year of life. 🥳

Like much of the year, I set clear goals by defining what I want to achieve each day and creating a clear plan to stay focused.

I keep my business and personal time in sync by creating a schedule to allocate specific times for work and breaks. I stick to your routine as much as possible. 📅 My calendar, LinkedIn, Sales Navigator, and CRM play critical roles are updated regularly, and each task is assigned a priority status.

I stay hydrated by having plenty of water💧 next to me to keep my energy levels up and as a way to force me to get up and take breaks as needed. 😆

I commit to regular physical activity 🏋🏻🚵🏻‍♂️ to improve my focus and energy levels. I limit distractions by ensuring I have a quiet workplace and minimized interruptions.

I make it point to keep in touch with colleagues or friends to stay motivated. I love hearing and sharing successes and challenges a like. 🥰

I reward myself 🏆 for completing tasks to stay motivated.

I hope this was as useful to everyone else as it is to me. Happy Summer. 🌞

Some great tips already shared above, few others would be

  • Watch or sign-up for online courses or webinars to learn new techniques or tools
  • Listen to your leads/prospects- Use the All Account alerts to see new stories on a specific account growth, risk, account updates, new decision makers, career changes. A great way to keep updated on what’s happening at your lead/prospect companies during the holiday period
  • Read books which inspire, motivate and help you get more productive - Book recommendation will include Atomic Habits- James Clear
  • Read latest research papers or insight articles within your industry or sector to see what’s new or what is coming up in the next few months

I appreciate all the great tips shared above! For me, staying motivated in the summer is all about keeping the energy high. A good summer pump-up playlist really helps. I also like to mix things up by moving from my desk to the patio. Working outdoors and getting some fresh air can be a refreshing change of scenery, which helps keep my motivation strong.
